How does it work?

With a Hot-Aisle Containment system, your data center's hot aisle is enclosed within a physical barrier. This allows the discharge air from your facility's IT equipment to be returned directly to the cooling equipment through a ceiling plenum or ductwork, while the cooled air is introduced directly into the data center through a raised floor, directly into the room through the AC units, or through ductowrk. 

By containing the hot air, you can improve the cooling efficiency of your data center's equipment by 30% or more, control energy costs by allowing for lower AC fan speeds, and improve the overall compfort of technicians working within the data center itself.  Hot aisle containment can dramatically increase the effectivness of your data center's cooling capacity. When your data center's hot exhaust air is kept separate from the rest of the room, you not only ensure that the conditioned air remains more easily cooled, but also that the exhaust air remains both hot and dry as it returns to the main AC coil. This return air being kept at the hottest temperature possible and at a low relative humidity increases your facility's AC cooling capacity, and can double the cooling capacity of your CRAC/CRAH.

Containment Design Services

Topwell Tech provides detailed containment designs for hot and cold aisle containment projects. For new construction projects, Towelltech develops shop drawings from architectural drawings in CAD and prepares record drawings after the installations. We also offer a design assist service where we work closely with the architect's engineers and assist in the development of a final design for a project. Since containment is typically the last piece of the data center to be installed, bringing our experience and competency to the project saves time and prevents rework. For retrofits with less specific documentation requirements Topwell Tech will prepare basic design documents from layout drawings and field measurements.
